Biology Intern - Bali based

  • Internship
  • On-Site

Job Description:

You'll work on real biology projects across our portfolio companies, supporting bioproduction, culture work, strain development, and experiments that connect biological systems to products and processes we actually run.

This is hands-on lab and bioprocessing work. You'll be expected to prepare materials, run experiments carefully, record what you did, analyze the results, and help move biological work from one-off experiments toward repeatable processes.

Our group has spent thirty years building companies across New York, London, and Tokyo. Today, our teams operate from a 4,000 sqm campus in Canggu, Bali. Across the group, we have raised and deployed more than $150M and operate portfolio companies across energy, bioproduction, and AI infrastructure.

Depending on team needs, current projects, and your interests, you may work across:

Zero-X
Thermochemical conversion and distributed energy, with 200+ systems live across 11 countries.

Seraph Group
Decentralized bioproduction combining AI, robotics, and synthetic biology on one platform.

Gemino AI
The AI infrastructure layer supporting systems and workflows across the group.

Your biology work may include:

  • Preparing media, solutions, samples, and materials for experiments
  • Running and monitoring experiments across microbial, enzymatic, or bioprocessing workflows
  • Supporting culture work, strain development, and bioproduction processes
  • Documenting protocols, observations, and results clearly enough that someone else can repeat them
  • Analyzing experimental data and summarizing what the results actually show
  • Maintaining lab equipment, consumables, and organized working documentation
  • Working with scientists and engineers to move experiments toward repeatable, scaled processes

The focus is not on academic exercises. You will work on biology connected to real companies, real products, and real bioproduction challenges.

We're looking for candidates who:

  • Have completed or are close to completing a university degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Bioengineering, or a closely related life science field
  • Have a solid understanding of molecular biology, microbiology, or bioprocessing fundamentals
  • Have hands-on experience with bench work through university practicals, internships, or personal projects, such as pipetting, sterile technique, culturing, or assays
  • Have experience documenting lab work and handling experimental data
  • Have experience through university projects, internships, personal projects, or other practical biology work
  • Can work independently, learn quickly, and solve practical biology problems
  • Are able to work fully on-site in Bali for 4-6 months

This internship can also be completed as part of a university internship requirement.

We don't expect you to already know our full lab stack, but you should have a strong biology foundation and a careful, methodical approach to bench work.

What we provide:

  • 4-6 month internship in Bali, Indonesia
  • Hands-on experience in a real bioproduction and synthetic biology environment
  • On-campus rooms available at competitive rates
  • Assistance with the internship visa process
  • Daily lunch included
  • Opportunity for exceptional interns to be considered for future roles or continued collaboration with the group

Important:

This is an unpaid internship.
The position is fully on-site in Bali, Indonesia.
There is no remote or hybrid option.
